PAL Features
What is the PAL?
The PAL is a state of the art personal emergency response system (PERS) system that is available in 2-way voice, non-voice and "listen only" versions.
Back
How do you program a PAL unit?
The PAL is completely programmable through a touch-tone phone, either locally or remote. All defaults can be restored with one sequence, or individual settings and account codes can be changed individually. The unit has a user defined master password that allows administrators access to these menus. There is no special programming equipment necessary.
Back
Are the pendants "auto-learn" pendants?
Yes, local or remote. You can remotely program a pendant via touch-tone phone.
Back
Are the pendants waterproof?
Yes.
Back
What is the pendant range?
Up to 300 feet in an open unobstructed environment.
Back
How big are the pendants and what styles do they come in?
The pendants are very small (1-1/4" X 2"), lightweight (0.5 oz.) and waterproof. They are available in attractive necklace or wristband versions.

Back
What about in remote and
international areas where tone is not always available?
It is true that many areas of the United States and Canada have tone dialing. However, it places where pulse is still in service, The PAL can be switched through its program to dial pulse. Since The PAL has complete local or remote programmability, it is a very simple change.
Back
Are compatible accessories available? (Smoke detectors, etc.)
Yes, smoke detectors and sip and puff units are accessory devices. We can also communicate with most popular medication dispensing systems. Any alarm, fire or medical device with a dry contact closure can be configured to communicate with The PAL. The auxiliary inputs can also be configured with delays.
Back
What if a client loses a pendant?
When the PAL is in "test mode" all the client has to do is press the pendant. The exchange between the PAL and the pendant is automatic. The unit will send back an audible acknowledgement that they are programmed. This saves on costly service calls. Since the PAL is remotely programmable, the unit can be placed in "test mode" by remote telephone.
Back
What is "listen only"?
The Pal can be configured to "listen" in if an alarm signal is called in. It can also be configured for "stealth dialing" whereby the unit will not make any noise if the alarm is pressed. It will simply dial out to the monitoring center. Typically these are used in special applications such as security in convenience stores or in high-risk homes where abuse may be a problem.

Service Features
Does the unit shut itself down before battery is dead or does it have to be turned off by the subscriber?
It shuts itself off in effect by un-powering due to insufficient voltage. However, due to the non-volatile E-Prom memory chip, no unit memory is lost during power outage.
Back
Does the unit turn itself back on immediately when the power is restored or does it have to be turned back on by the subscriber?
Yes, It turns itself back on when power is restored.
Back
Any other unique features in The PAL?
Yes there is. The PAL has a failsafe power detector built into it. The unit will not turn on until AC power is seen from the power outlet. The feature ensures that the unit is in fact on a "live" outlet and not on battery. This saves on costly service calls.
Back
Monitoring Features
Can the PAL be programmed easily in to my monitoring center?
Yes, we communicate very easily with most popular receivers on the market. Please call the factory for more details.
Back
How easy is it for the 2-way PAL to communicate with the subscribers?
Z-Tech’s new 2-Way voice simplex unit is a “best in class” system where high microphone sensitivity and speaker clarity were give high-priority during design.
Back
Is there a feature to use when demonstrating the unit?
Yes. It is called the "friend mode." It allows you to program the unit to dial up your office, or possibly a recording instead of placing unnecessary burden on the monitoring center to handle non-emergency sales work.
